Van Dijk could suddenly return this season

Virgil van Dijk can surprise fans by returning to play this season after recovering from injury.

According to the Daily Mail, Virgil van Dijk has started training to recover slightly, which gives hope to coach Jurgen Klopp that the midfielder can return sooner than expected.

Van Dijk broke his front ligament in the Merseyside derby in October following a collision with Jordan Pickford.

After surgery, Van Dijk confirmed he had completed a rehabilitation plan with a knee specialist and the Dutch international now started training with low impact before performing the stage with higher intensity.

There is no indication as to whether Van Dijk will return soon before the end of the season, but the talented defender’s start to recover from training is encouraging for Liverpool.

If the recovery process goes smoothly, Van Dijk is still likely to reappear at the end of this season, the source said.

Recently, the partner of the Dutch midfielder Joe Gomez is also facing the risk of rest until the end of the season with a fracture injury to his kneecap when he gathered for England last week.

This makes Joel Matip the sole senior Liverpool midfielder. Fabinho played as a temporary center-back after Van Dijk’s injury but was later sidelined.

The Transfermarkt website has launched an 11-star lineup that was unable to play for a variety of reasons, including a Covid-19 absence.

Transfermarkt selected 11 players with injury or illness (Covid-19) to form a costly squad who were unable to play. They have a total value of up to 900 million euros in the transfer market and this absence greatly affects the host team.

In goal was Benjamin Lecomte, the Monaco goalkeeper, who had to retire until December due to hand problems. His estimated value is 11 million euros.

The defense is made up of four names: Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) with a value of 110 million euros and a 4-week break due to mechanical problems; Upamecano (Leipzig) worth 60 million and suffered muscle injuries; Van Dijk (Liverpool) was seriously injured in the knee and cost 80 million; Alphonso Davies (Bayern), also priced at 80 million.

The quality of the midfielders also creates a remarkably high value. Kimmich (Bayern – 85 million euros) has to leave until January due to problems with meniscus; Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) with a value of 70 million euros sits out for about a month due to a fracture of the tibia; Havertz (Chelsea) worth 81 million euros is infected with Covid-19.

On the attack line are the trio of Neymar – Ansu Fati and Mohamed Salah. Barca’s young talent worth 80 million euros has just been injured for 4 months; Salah (Liverpool – 120 million) has just tested positive for Covid-19. Finally, Neymar (PSG) is the injured player with the highest valuation: 128 million euros.
