Top Premier League Teams

The Premier League since its inception in 1992 has attracted top clubs from around England, with a total of 49 teams having participated in the competition up to date. The league is the most followed football league around the world, with broadcasts airing over in 180 countries which are recognized by the United Nations.

With the level of competition improving each season, big teams have found it hard to maintain the ‘top team’ tag. This has also been caused by the fact that football clubs are nowadays spending large amounts of money on players, stadiums, and other facilities and amenities which have helped move the game to new heights. The following are some of the top Premier League teams.

Arsenal

Many English Premier League enthusiasts will agree to the fact that the Arsenal’s invincible side, which won the 2003-04 season without a single defeat, is one of the greatest sides of all times. Guided by the legendary manager Wenger, the team won the title with 90 points making it the only English club to play all the 38 premiership games without a single defeat. Some of the notable players during the season include Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Gilberto Silva, among others.

Manchester United

Since the 1992-93 season, Manchester United have won the Premier League 13 times which is a record that has not been broken by any other club with Chelsea coming a distant second with five league titles to their name. The club was founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club back in 1878, but later in 1902, the club changed its name to Manchester United.

Manchester City

Manchester City has won four premier league titles since they made a comeback to the Premier League in the 2002-03 season with the 2018 title being the most memorable after they made history by finishing the league with 100 points, which no other club in the Premier League has managed since its inception.
